A week or so ago we discussed the biblical importance of lending and how we should approach lending.

You can visit that article here.

This evening I’d like to cover a little about what the bible has to say about repaying loans, honors, or other things that are owed:

In repaying, God shows us that paying our debts in their entirety and in a timely fashion is honoring to Christ and is a way to show our love for our brothers.[Romans 13:7-8]

7 Pay (repayment) to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed.

8 Owe no one anything (full repayment is important), except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Folks, I think that says it all! Basically, make sure that the things that are rightfully owed be repaid. Doing so is honoring unto God and hence should be done because you honor the Lord in doing so. If you have no motivation for repaying loans or honors owed, let this be the only one! That you love and praise the lord in your repayment and honor God through doing so.

Forward looking:

We will go over versus that speak out against being anxious in financial matters.

Respectfully,

Tony Tovar

Good post. Repaying all debt is another way the Scriptures run counter to our prevailing culture.
