The Student Loan Exposed!

Student Loan Load!

Bloated Tuition cost suck! More and more students have decided to take up loans in order to afford their college education in hopes that their degree will secure them better post-graduation employment. However, I think the days of graduating know that you have spend the best years of your life at an awesome university and exciting career prospects are over! Many students leave college crippled by debt and are whacked in the head with news of their country’s frail economic circumstance and the even weaker job markets! Graduating students find themselves imprisoned by such a dilemma and it doesn’t look so great for those graduating in the near future (Me!).

With the US in the slumps (economically), loans don’t exactly look attractive, but it’s a necessary evil and I can vouch for that! The evil part that is! You guys know how I am about debt, well if you don’t then you will now! I hate borrowed money unless its absolutely free to borrow! Don’t get me wrong there are times and places were loans are a way of gaining in the end or perhaps a way of achieving an opportunistic benchmark in business, but for me as a student, financing sucks! :D It’s a necessary evil for many students with uncertain futures!

The federal government is trying to ease this situation. In April, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that continues to guarantee funding for federal student loans, including Stafford loans and Parent PLUS loans. But even stable federal loan outlets, which tend to have lower rates of interest and lower rates of up-front fees, are scaling back on discounts and benefits they used to offer to students!

Then there are the really bad loans in my opinion, the private lender loans! These tend to be the ones that bring down the stress on students. You see, the Private lenders are being hit hard by the slumping economy, especially because they are not subsidized by government funds. All those fees you save by getting Stafford loans appear all of a sudden in most of the private lender loans.

Despite the ridiculous tuition rates, college is still profoundly an amazing investment! This is on place where students should not be frugal; where their educations are concerned. I say this because, like me, many students decide to attend schools with low tuition rates (on average) and extremely great educational programs. :D! But students must be careful when it comes to lending. If a student must take out a private loan in addition to federal loan(s), it’s best to stick with one lender. Simply understanding the loan process in the first place, such as the difference between the public and the private, is a good place to start!

Another recommendation for students is to seek work-study opportunities! It’s an awesome way to curb student debt and a great way to try and soften the blow, you know? One last tidbit… according to an on campus advisor, students who work one to fifteen hors per week are more likely to stay in school and graduate. ROFL, I guess that if you can afford school huh? :D

Respectfully,

Tony Tovar

What makes me really sick is that students are graduating with a Bachelor’s degree crippled by in some cases close to one hundred thousand dollars. That is ridiculous. These “prestigous” universities are a joke. In our day when a bachelor’s degree doesn’t get you all that much any more, students are being taken advantage of. I can understand higher prices for graduate school, but the undergrad prices are absolutely ridiculous in my opinion.

I agree college is prohibitively expensive for many. Its very sad b/c many people don’t get the same opportunities. This is why I am living at home next semester and commuting to school. I didn’t want to get into debt.

BTW: I like the new site design and I see you are now posting more frequently. I like it :).

    Tony,

I just graduated and I’m sitting at $20,000 in debt with no job prospects at the moment. With the job markets so frail and the desire for even more highly educated individuals, I’m actually contemplating graduate school just to become hopefully more competitive. Simply amazing!
